Revelation Lesson 1 Chapter 1:1-8

Opening Prayer: Dear God, Thank You for bringing us together today to study Your word. Help us to open our minds and hearts to learn from You. Guide us in our studies, and give us wisdom and understanding. Thank You Lord. In Jesus name we pray, Amen.

Heading: Revelation Bible Study Lesson 1, 1:1-8.

Read Revelation 1:1-3 The Source of the Revelation.

  1. Who gave this revelation? What was the purpose of it? (vs. 1). Answer: God gave the revelation, which is His final word in the Bible. The purpose was to reveal the things which must soon take place.
  2. What did John do with the vision he saw? (vs. 2). Answer: He saw it, witnessed it, and wrote it down.

3. Who is the book addressed to? (vs. 4). Answer: To the Christians in the seven churches.

4. What two characteristics does God desire for His people, the Church? (vs. 4). Answer: Grace and Peace.

5. Read verse 5. Write down the five titles listed and what do they mean? The five titles: 1. Jesus. 2. Christ. 3. Faithful Witness. 4. First-born. 5. Ruler.

6. Verse seven teaches us about Christ’s second coming to the earth. It will happen at the end of the tribulation and the beginning of the millennium.

7. What title does Christ declare Himself in verse eight? Answer: The Alpha and Omega. The first and the last. The eternal one.

8. What truth does Christ want us to focus on as we go into this book? Write your answer in your journal.

9. In verse three we are reminded that the time is near. It could happen at any moment. How are you living that will reflect your faith in this truth? How can you improve your testimony and walk with God in view of the fact that He may come at any moment? Be honest and write your answer in your journal.

When studying the Bible you get what you put into it.

To really learn God’s Word it takes studying God’s Word.

Read it-Write it’ and SOAK it all in!

Dear God, We are so grateful for this faithful, strong women’s group and this Bible study which is such a wonderful blessing to our lives. It gives us a chance to share with women of faith and learn from one another as we study God’s holy word. As we end our study please help us to remember what we have learned. We pray that we can have a positive influence for good in the world and spread the good news of Jesus Christ. We pray this in Jesus name, Amen.
